Choosing to be visible as your true self requires bravery.

You open yourself up to judgement, criticism, even discrimination. Your vulnerabilities are no longer hidden.

That takes guts, whoever you are – and it’s something every trans person has to navigate, just to live their life.

When I came out in 2018, I knew some doors might close, and they did.

Others opened, but it has certainly made parts of my career harder at time. That’s a reality I’ve had to accept 🫤

Being visible is still scary in many parts of the world. The news coming out of the US right now (on a daily basis) is terrifying – it shows how we cannot take progress for granted.

Standing up for who you are or what you believe in isn’t easy. For some people, it’s not even possible.

This is why we need allies, more than ever.

We need action, not bystanders.
We need everyone to stand up and speak up for trans rights 🙌🏼

Because visibility shouldn’t come at a cost ✊🏼🩵💜🤍

The #IOC just banned #trans women from competing in female categories at the #Olympics, here are my thoughts 💭🏳️‍⚧️

This feels like the result of political pressure in the run up to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, the Trump administration already put out an executive order banning trans women from female sports, also saying they will refuse visa’s for trans athletes entering the US to compete 🤯

If anyone is interested in learning the reality behind why we are where we are, I highly recommend reading The Other Olympians by Mark Waters 📖

His book is incredibly well researched and documents the history of trans athletes in competition over the last 100yrs and the systematic oppression and misogyny that was created to police gender 🛂

History is repeating itself 😔 …
